PAUL'S LEGACY -
Giving Mental Health The KO

A Charitable Organisation raising awareness of Mental Health and how to help those affected by it.

Filling the gaps for people so they are not alone.

Our Mission

To be a listening ear to those affected by mental health issues. To be a voice for those who do not have the power or strength to speak about mental health issues.

To be part of the solution and not the problem by breaking down the walls of stigma, secrecy and lack of understanding in families, schools and society.

To be the hope of change when all hope seems futile.

To save lives by walking beside those who need us, and carrying them when they feel they cannot go on.

Who is Paul?

Paul is a son, a brother, a grandson, a nephew, a cousin and a friend.

Born on the 26th November 1995 in Salford to Carla and Paul he was an amazing, bright, funny young man.  He was a protector to his two sisters and the fun loving friend to his friends.

At school he walked through his exams, and as one of his best mates said "he could have been a professor or anything he wanted, but he chose to hang about with us".

He loved sport and played football for local team Barr Hill, but his passion was boxing and what a good little boxer he was.

He made his family proud when he passed out for the RAF and lived life to the full. Boxing for his regiment and winning was his strength.

Tragically after almost two years struggling with mental health issues and after self harming on a number of occasions, our Paul could not fight his thoughts anymore and passed away on Friday the 12th February 2021.

The whole community were in shock and his family were torn apart.  A heartbreak that will never be fixed.

Almost a thousand people attended his funeral. Stories of lost shoes, falling asleep on fences, wild parties and wild women were laughed about as the whole community came together to lay this young man to rest.

Yet in shock and heartbroken his family and closest friends could not let him go without a reason for him dying.

There has to be a reason why someone so brave, handsome, funny and smart has left us here.

We believe that reason was to show the world that Paul has left a legacy, that no one should feel they have  nowhere to go or turn, when they hit rock bottom.

A Legacy to ensure that when you do not meet the criteria for admission to hospital, there is somewhere else to go for help.

A legacy that parents are not left alone, out of their mind, not knowing where to turn or how to help their child.

That a brother, a sister, a daughter, a son can learn about the grieving process and be supported by others who have lost loved ones.

PAUL WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN AND HE DID NOT DIE IN VAIN - OUR LAD HAS LEFT A LEGACY THAT WILL SAVE THE LIVES OF MANY
